Art at the Mill - Spring Show

Two paintings were selected for the show and one sold, which was a favorite of mine because I was actually watching and photographing the group from the little outdoor pizza parlor across the street n 2006

.

The painting of the four people in Ferrara, Italy is titled "Corner Gossip" and I hope the new owners enjoy it.

The other was in Venice in 2010 and the lady of the house was leaning out of her third story apartment hanging the laundry using a pulley system.  it seems that regardless of where you live in this world, you still have dirty laundry!

Trying to Paint with OILS!!!

Being partial to the spontaneity of watercolor, the switch to oil pant was a real trial.  mind you, this is just temporary and then back to what I enjoy the most.  but here are a painting in oil.  The colors are more vivid in real life - need to work on that.

Back to Blogging !!

It has been just too long since posting - perhaps because there has been lots of painting going on.  So let's figure this out.

Adding some new paintings of African children.  A friend from church did some mission work in the fall of 2012 and let me use some of her photos.  These are children who attend the school and some live at the home for displaced or orphaned children.

Our church and several others support this mission. We continue to fundraise and send workers to support the Sierra Leone project.

WELCOME 2013

Just returned from spending the holidays in Florida visiting family.  Warm breezes, palm trees and plenty of time to relax - in between all the holiday activities.
Back to Virginia and ready to paint.

From this point on, my new paintings will be posted on this blog for viewing.  My wonderful webmaster is off to college and so busy with his classes and studies.  Thanks, Courtlin, for all the time you have put in to working up the website, www.maryfetter.com.
From this point on, new paintings and activities will be posted on my blog for viewing. So keep up now with the latest here - www.maryfetter.blogspot.com.

Along with alot of painting activity planned (with painting buddy, Kim - www.kimroluti.blogspot.com), I am starting a renewed study of Italian Renaissance artists.  Amazing how easy today's artists have it - compared to the early artists.....just acquiring the paint, papers, boards was a huge task in the 1400 and 1500s.  Studying their lifestyles will be intriguing. Will let you know how it's  going.

Well, it's a warm day for January...so time to take a walk.

Trip to the BWS Exhibit

On Sunday, eight fellow artists travelled together to the Baltimore Watercolor Society annual exhibit - held this year at The Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD.  My painting "Jerk Chicken - $5" was chosen for the show so seven of my special artist friends and I went to the reception.  It was a glorious fall day, we crossed the river on White's Ferry and drove on back country roads to get there...nice little adventure in itself.  The show was full of exceptional art work and it was interesting to see what others are doing.

Thanks to my supportive friends - Kim, Julie, Margot, Linda, Mary Carolyn, Doris and Pia-we had a great day.

Check Kim's blog - www.kimroluti.blogspot.com - she posted the pictures of our trip.

Exhibition

So excited to announce my painting "Jerk Chicken - $5" was juried onto the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition - at BlackRock Center for the Arts, Germantown ,MD.  The exhibit will run from Aug. 29 to October 4.
Selections was made by Frank Webb and he will be the judge as well.  Feeling pretty happy about just being one of 100 selected for this large show sponsored by the Baltimore Watercolor Society.

Just back from the beach visiting our family - this is a small painting called Brett and the Big Fish.  Brett is my 12 year old grandson - on the right.
